Michael joined Tate Partners in January 2018 and was appointed a Director in July 2021.
Michael has worked in professional practice since commencing his career in Adelaide in 1998. He qualified as a CPA in 2001 and since then has worked in a number of roles in practice and industry, both in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Relocating to Melbourne in 2003 after two years in London, Michael spent nine years with a large mid-tier accounting firm where he worked with clients across a diverse breadth of industries, including property and construction, retail, hospitality, not-for-profit and the arts.
Michael has strong tax knowledge and his personal nature makes for a uniquely skilled professional who conveys complex information clearly, with an outcomes-based approach. Michael has acted as accountant for some of Australia’s leading tax experts.
Michael also spent a number of years in an industry role, in a key management and advisory position. This role, in a capital and labour intensive business, gave him valuable experience in understanding the day-to-day pressures of running a diverse and successful business group. Returning to public practice, this experience enables him to combine his technical expertise in accounting, taxation and business processes with a commercial outlook and an understanding of key business drivers.
